Hodomurashi which name is associated with Karasuyama clan who had encouraged its production (Edo period 1603-1868). It is manufactured by the tamezuki method and is mainly used for printing. It is also used to make dyed papers called Santome (paper used for fabrics wrapping: the name comes from the former Portuguese colony, Sao Tome, which manufactured fabric with a popular decorative pattern in the 16th century). This paper is one of the most famous of the Edo period.

Lingsha or window paper. It is manufactured in the district of Guangxin. It is used to cover the lattice. Its dimensions are 230/125cm. The high quality of the paper called Lingchuang zhi, was used to cover the windows of the imperial palace; the sheets could measure 160/280cm.

Shojigami is used as the name suggests, to cover the sliding doors. The standard size is 63.6 / 93.9 cm. Superior quality is the Shoingami reserved to shoin (study room). It is produced in many parts of Japan. The most famous is the shoinshi Uchiyama (Nagano Prefecture) which production dates back to 17th century.
