Minogami or Minoshi is one of the oldest papers originally produced as the name suggests, in the Mino region. The oldest fragments date from 702. From the beginning, the production is large. Mino during the Heian period (794-1185) is the largest producing region of Japan as well for bark as for paper.
Names derived from the general name like Mino shoinsi (for shoin shoji) are used since the Edo period (1603-1868). Honminogami (true Minogami) means a paper respecting the manufacturing label.
The standard size is 33/24,3cm. It is used for various purposes of writing, printing, covering sliding doors etc.

Udagami after the name of the locality in Nara Prefecture, is a fairly strong paper, which contains clay as filler which makes it soft and supple and prevents it to extend and retract. It is used in mounting paintings for the last lining. The sheet is formed by tamezuki method.
