Japanese imitation of xuanzhi. Name given to differentiate it from the true Chinese paper called "hongasen" or "senshi". Sizes vary from 96/180cm, 84/150cm, 69/135cm. It is generally produced with kozo fibers.
Production increases in the second half of the 20th century. The regions concerned are the prefectures of Tottori, Ehime, Yamanashi.
