Monshoinshi

Monshoinshi or pattern paper is a watermarked paper with Chinese pattern obtained using a stencil placed on the paper mould. Its manufacture dates from the Edo period (1603-1868); it was produced in large quantities since the Meiji era (1868-1912). It was used to make lanterns.
